Decontamination

After the removal of the old lining and before the blasting, the surfaces to be lined must be checked and in necessary, decontaminated.

For new metal equipments, the check must be performed if there are doubts concerning the eventual contamination of the components used for the production, or when the equipment has been placed for long time in chemically aggressive atmospheres.

The metal parts to be checked must be clean and dry.

It must be used the sensitive papers Tamburini "IDK CHECK PAPER".

The surface, preventively prepared, should be dampened, by spray or with a clean plug.

On the damp surface, it must be put the sensitive paper Tamburini "IDK CHECK PAPER" to contact with the metal, pressing lightly for 15-20 seconds and until that the same one has dampened; therefore remove and examine it.

The variation of colour of the paper Tamburini "IDK CHECK PAPER", from yellow to blue, attests the contamination that can be judged both from the extension of the area where the colour is changed, and from the intensity of the blue tone appeared on the paper.

The evaluation of the degree of contamination is qualitative and not quantitative, the decision to proceed with the decontamination or not is taken by the entrusted person, on the basis of its experience.

Decontamination
Place the equipment to be decontaminated in manner that it is easily accessible and stable fixed.
Use pressure water jet equipment.

Prepare, for every square meter to be decontaminated, a solution composed by:
  • 135 grams of Tamburini Decontaminating "IDK"
  • 6 liters of demineralised water
Wash repeatedly and carefully the surface to be decontaminated with the solution above mentioned, without to rinse.

Let to dry the equipment and perform again the check with the paper "IDK CHECK PAPER"; if the check shows a sufficient cleanliness of the surfaces, it is possible to proceed with the blasting, otherwise repeat the treatment.
